EU exempts iMessage and Microsoft services from strict DMA rules

The European Commission has decided not to classify Apple's iMessage as a "core platform service" under the Digital Markets Act (DMA), sparing it from the new stringent interoperability requirements. Similarly, Microsoft's Edge browser, Bing search engine, and advertising business also avoided this designation. This decision comes after a detailed five-month investigation, considering feedback from stakeholders and advice from the Digital Markets Advisory Committee.
