Open letter opposes Meta's "Pay or Okay" model

In an urgent call to action, 28 civil society and consumer rights organizations have appealed to the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) and national Data Protection Authorities (DPAs) to reject Meta's "Pay or Okay" strategy, which imposes a choice on users between paying a fee or consenting to data tracking. This approach, they argue, undermines the principle of free consent under the GDPR and risks making privacy a luxury.
