A recent experiment by Gianpaolo Lorusso comparing Demand Generation (DGen) campaigns with traditional Display campaigns over five weeks and a budget of 1,200€ revealed that DGen campaigns significantly outperformed Display campaigns regarding conversions and cost-efficiency.

Context: The test targeted seasoned PPC professionals using advanced PPC tools, with campaigns running across Google's Display Network and YouTube, Gmail, and Discover for DGen. Despite similar audience targeting and ad content, DGen campaigns achieved better conversion rates and more efficient use of the budget. T

Results: The experiment suggests that while Display campaigns can still be effective with precise optimization, DGen campaigns offer a more set-and-forget approach for driving targeted traffic and conversions at lower costs. The findings underscore the importance of continually testing different audiences and assets to optimize PPC campaign performance.
